Lake Guntersville State Park. Only 10 mins away and you'll be surrounded by its deers, immaculate golf course and many hiking trails on its 6,000 acre park along the shoreline! (15 mins)

Town Creek Fishing Center

Town Creek Fishing Center is located at Lake Guntersville State Park near the mouth of Town Creek. One of the oldest campgrounds in the area, Town Creek serves bass boat, pontoon, fishing, canoe, and kayak rentals. Also available: fishing license, camping, convenience store, and non-ethanol gas on the water. (10 mins)

Eagle's Nest Golf Course

Eagle's Nest Golf Course at Lake Guntersville State Park is your premier golf destination! This 18-hole championship course is located on top of Taylor Mountain and provides golfers with a pure golf experience complete with magnificent lake views combined with occasional sightings of white-tailed deer and bald eagles. The golf course features rolling hills and elevation changes throughout, making each hole a unique challenge and a must-play on any golfer’s list. The course was renovated in 2009 by Jerry Pate and features TifDwarf Bermuda greens and full-service practice facilities. The Pro Shop offers rental clubs, golf accessories, apparel, and snacks. This place is only about 12-15 mins away from your cabin! Muscadines are delicious and popular in our area. The owners are amazing and very helpful, too. Please visit their farm for your favorite muscadine treat. Open on a seasonal basis so call first before heading there. Have fun! (15 mins)

Mountains, woods, springs, hosting caves, rocky bluffs, grass coves and riparian forests greet visitors to the Walls of Jericho in Jackson County by the headwaters of the Paint Rock River. The over 25,000 acres of tract acquisitions are an addition to the James D. Martin - Skyline Wildlife Management Area and physically link Skyline and Crow Creek Wildlife Management Areas together along Coon Creek. (60 mins)

High Falls Park

Park featuring a 35-ft. waterfall with a pedestrian bridge across it, plus scenic trails. (20 mins)

Buck's Pocket State Park

This secluded canyon park offers a stunning natural overlook, quiet bluff trails, and a sense of escape that's hard to find anywhere else. (20 mins)

Alabama Birding Trail - Murphy Hill

As you walk through open areas, listen for Yellow-breasted Chats and Indigo Buntings. Once the woods get a little thicker, check the flocks of Tufted Titmice and Carolina Chickadees for migrant warblers and vireos, along with Blue-gray Gnatcatchers and White-breasted Nuthatches. Upon reaching the water’s edge, check the shallows for Great Egrets and Great Blue Herons, and scan the open water for Hooded Mergansers and Common Loons. Overhead, look for soaring Ospreys or Bald Eagles. Both of these birds of prey nest nearby, and one might drop by and impress you with its expert fishing technique. Without a doubt, Murphy Hill will have a few surprises in store, which is why more birders are enjoying this great site. (10-15 min walk from cabin, 1-2 min drive)
